One of the primary goals of the Digital Images Initiative is to present information on the efforts of Washington State libraries and heritage organizations to create digital collections that are shared through the World Wide Web. The Digital Projects section of the Digital Best Practices web site presents the first group of project reports from five libraries who participated as pilot sites to test digital methods and procedures. The five libraries completed their work in early 2000. The reports provide detail on the problems and solutions each library encountered as they proceeded to work on the project. Practical information concerning costs, time, technical and collection issues is presented. The reports are lengthy, but useful in the amount of practical detail that is described.
